Are alterations worth it?

Absolutely! People come in all shapes and sizes. I myself am 5’4″ and have a difficult time finding pants, dresses and even blazers that  are just too long. My sister is a proud 5’1″ on a good day and this issue is worse for her!

Lucky for you gentlemen, most of what you’ll need to get altered have to do with suits and garments alike as there are more uniform sizes for pants and shirts. For women, it’s a completely different story. The cuts vary from brand to brand. I might be a size 8 in one brand and a 6 in another. It’s a nightmare.

Because of this, alterations are worth it! You turn something mass produced to sort of fit most people to something customized for your shape.

I have been hunting for the perfect maxi dress ever since summer clothes made their big debut with my main problem being they are like a ball gown with a train on me! I found one I loved, bought it , and altered it. Totally worth the $10 hem.

Common and reasonably affordable alterations are: hemming skirts, pants, and jacket sleeves, taking in and letting out seams.

FYI: You can only alter a garment one size down. If you purchase anything more than this and try to alter it, you will compromise the construction and integrity of the garment.

How often do you alter your clothes?
