This is not a rhetorical question. Mules and clogs are still living big right now and are seen in virtually every store you can imagine. And what about the elusive clog mule combo? I’ve seen women from all walks of life wearing some version of it. But this used to be a not so attractive clunky trend years ago that still irks me today. This trend really hasn’t gone away yet?
But I have to admit, there are some beautiful versions out there. Take a look at some of my favorites of this comeback trend. Can you get around this year’s mules and clogs?
Finally sneakers that aren’t in the form of a wedge are back in style! They’re comfortable and can be paired with almost anything for a casual chic look.
Have you ever heard your parents say “I can wear this again because it’s back in style. And it still fits!”? And usually when they say this they are pointing to their awful sky high, bedazzled, multicolored platform shoes and their high waisted pants that sit near their underarms that have bell bottoms large enough for a village to camp under each side they wore to dance disco at Studio 54 in the 70’s. Yeah I know you’re cringing just a little, but they have a viable reason for making these claims that such clothing could ever been seen in public again.
What goes around comes around. This is true of karma, boomerangs, and fashion of course! Let’s call it for what it is, we’re not reinventing the wheel here. Although specific styles update with every decade, and even every year, the trend recycles itself. Every now and then you’ll see something new come along, i.e. the wrap dress by Diane Von Furstenberg, but the same silhouettes keep coming back. Yes, this includes the platform shoes and high waisted bell bottom pants. Check out this video that chronicles the past 100 years in fashion trends starting at the turn of the century through the beginning of the new millennium. While you watch, ask yourself: What decade is my style?
